Garden Tool Storage
I can’t figure out this math problem. Help please?
Gina used 78 square feet of plywood to build a storage bin to hold her gardening supplies. How much plywood will she need to build a similar box for her hand tools if the dimensions of the box are half the dimensions of the bin?

Suppose the dimensions of the initial box are x feet wide and y feet deep. Then the area is given as
A=x*y=78.
If you halve both the width and length than the area of the new box will be
(1/2x)*(1/2y)=x*y/4=78/4 = 19 and 1/2 square feet.
It is not 39 square feet.
