How to give your garden a quick fix
The warm weather has arrived and it looks as though the season of ice cream, water fights and barbecue’s is finally here. In preparation for the sunny spells, green fingered enthusiasts started working on their gardens months ago, but for those of you who are not sure where to start or simply missed the boat, below are a few tips to giving your garden a quick mini- makeover.
If you are worried your garden looks boring, use art and paving to create a more interesting look. Paving slabs are a great way of creating interesting effects in your garden and if combined with a garden sculpture they can quickly change the look and feel of your garden. If your garden has problems with water drainage then use permeable paving. Permeable paving allows the water to drain of naturally and the range of colours and materials makes it one of the best types of paving to have.
Creating an area for a stand alone barbecue is another way to give your garden a more unique look. Whilst most people opt for disposables or a gas barbecue its easy and quite cheap to create a barby that meets your needs. To create a perfect barbecue area, you just need some bricks, cement and a couple of metal racks for you to cook your food on. The work can be completed over a weekend and if you need some inspiration, have a quick look online!
If the above sounds like a little too much work, then the quickest way to give your garden a face lift is by replacing the fence panels and the Garden Gate. Replacing fence panels is a easy, especially if you opt for wooden fence posts. Most are standard size and can be brought off the shelf.
The same generally applies to garden gates, whether you want a wooden one or an iron one they are relatively easy to buy, either in shops or online. The most important thing is getting the measurements right. Wrought iron gates offer better security than wooden gates, and if you get the gate galvanised it will preventing it rusting for a number of years. Wooden gates can be treated, but with general wear and tear and winters harsh weather conditions, they can be more susceptible to damage.
